Hok Hogan

"Diyos ko!", my mom gasped.

i heard her mutter a prayer. Dad who was seated behind her was also silent. they were glued to the tv screen for at that moment, a big guy whacked Hulk Hogan with a steel chair. The crowed roared, my parents held their breaths. As expected, their hero, who despite all the injuries obtained, seemed to get his strength from the chants of the crowd, eventually won the belt. My mom breathed a sigh of relief. i just rolled my eyes.

12 years ago, the whole family was addicted to wrestling. watching them was s a family affair. We were updated, i tell you. watched all the wrestlemania events, no-holds barred matches, and of course, the Royal Rumble (all in betamax).

Until my sister went to study high school in manila. When she came back, she told us that these wrestling fights were all scripted. It made sense. They get kicked in the balls, fall from heights, slammed in the head but no one sustains any permanent injuries (except for Andre the Giant who got a heart attack, or did he?). And there's always the good guys and the bad guys. And the Hogan-Elizabeth-Ultimate Warrior love triangle... wadahek!

And 12 years later, here are my parents. still warped in the world wrestling federation fantasy, still cheering for the sagging hulk. i can't heeeaarr yaaaaaaa!!!

HAHAHA!!! i remember the days.. my favorite were these brothers, twins, i think, i don't remember anymore. They had a pet dog named Matilda. I can't remember what they're names are. And, The Barber, and Jake "The Snake" Roberts.

Hahaha, being in the province can really make you think about what used to be...

Si Kuya: Teka, wag kang magulo, my. Hindi pa sila tapos magpatayan eh.

PS: My family still believes in fairytales, I guess.

anonymous, yes yes, syanga yun. bakit kaya maganda sya sa paningin ko dati. pero pag tignan mo ngayon hampanget pala.

anonymous, hende si elizabeth ramsey! lol.

abi, the bushwhackers, i think, that's them. they're idiots pero dahil bida sila e di sa kanila ako bumoboto. katangahan. Jake the snake roberts naman turned to the dark side naging kontrabida.

Ky, no, i didn't cry when machoman's muscles allegedly burst. But i didn't think it was a stupid idea at that time, either. i think the undertaker with paul bearer still fights.

cruise, oo, they get violent when you tell them it's scripted no? my sis always gets into an argument with my mom.

Van, hayaan mo na kuya mo. otistik ata.

friedwater, check mo comments so blog mo.

extended family affair din ang panonood nito. I remember, meron laging palabas nito every saturday night and pag merong birthday amongst cousins, part ng program ang dinner while watching WWF. hehe.

i remember my mom would yell, "sa balls, sa balls!!!"

those were the days...
