Papers

I went back to the hospital to take the residency qualifying exam and to submit my papers, though still not really decided if I want to take this path at this time. I cannot live on P8000 a month and I refuse to be a slave all over again. Besides, I fear that I won't last a month under those consultants. I don't know what to do. I'll just wait for their call. Then I decide..

Wards

When I looked at the wards, I realized that I didn’t miss any of it. Ok, a little bit... Ok, some. And that’s all. But when I think of the work going to loom over me when I start training, I begin to miss my bed back home.

kulet

She insists on staying in front of the monitor sometimes making it difficult for me to see what I am typing. When the text goes mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmma;ldkfj a, that would be lucky, stepping on the keyboard again. She can be impossible at times.

Oblation

Oblation
University of the Philippines, Diliman

Just 5 years ago I would have done anything to get out of the university.
Today, I would always feel exhilarated whenever I pass by the two pointed structures that highlight the University Avenue. Still feels like home to me.

Nearest old woman: "pag kinuha ko ung kandela, pede ko ibinta sa labas para may pira"

MTR

Was rushing to Carriedo to file for my sister's NBI clearance. What faster way to go there than to take the MTR along aurora blvd to the recto station. Doesn't the station look great? Took me less than 20 minutes to reach my destination compared to about 1 hour had I taken an fx or a jeepney. It was raining and I didn't bring an umbrella. The only available umbrella left at home was a pink one.

MTV

Inside the MTR, everybody looked glum. I guess it's the weather. Here's a shot of a lady in an MTV moment.

NBI clearance

I arrived at the NBI clearance center in Carriedo, preparing my dialogue and P500 to buy off any official to expedite the processing of my sister's papers. I went straight up to the IRD officer, rehearsing my lines for bribing, trying to say them nonchalantly, while climbing the stairs. But the officer was so nice (there are still nice people in government) and said I could get my papers the same day if the lines weren't that long. He told me to proceed to the second floor for the fees. I went down, expecting long tedious lines but voila! Look the the deserted place. I got my sis' clearance in 15 minutes. Then I decided to get my own NBI clearance as well. I just had to take advantage of the situation. I got everything done in 30 minutes without even having to bribe anyone.

Rain Rain

When I got out of the building, it started to rain again. I asked a candy cigarette vendor if the jeepneys passing by would reach the MTR station. She said "Oo, pero lakarin mo na lang, malapit lang naman. Sayang lang pamasahe mo, limang piso din yun". I looked at her makeshift stall and surmised that it also served as her home. I thought of how much P5.00 meant to her, and said to myself, "oo nga, sayang din ang limang piso". So I ran the whole stretch (see picture) trying to stay as dry as possible but to no avail. I reached the station out of breath and wet from the rain and sweat. Pucha, nagjeep na lang sana ako.

YumYum!

I reached the mall and fedexed my sister's papers. Then I thought I'd feed myself for a job well done. So I went to Tokyo Tokyo, ordered a pork tonkatsu and some maki and didn't ask for extra rice. I took the maki home.

Cubicle

This is my cubicle. I had only one patient today. And he cried when I announced to him the good news that he had no diabetes (aww, im touched).
Then I told him how bad his heart condition was, that his hypertension was uncontrolled, that his LDL levels were high, and that the stroke he had could have had done permanent damage to his brain. My patients love me.

Sheez, i saw only one patient and slept through most of the day. And they pay me P500 for this. And they give me free lunch. I think I'd better find myself another job.

Tin

Meet Tin, my secretary. Ok, I don't have a secretary, but it does sound nice calling her MY secretary. She takes my calls (and all the other doctors' calls), brings me my patients (and all the other doctors' patients), gives me what I need (and all the other doctors' needs). See? I told you she was my secretary.

Raprap

Raprap. The son of the polyclinic's owner. So I guess I need to be nice to him even if he wakes me up during my nap hours (which is practically the whole day except lunchtime, of course) and drags me to the xray room to draw him dinosaurs. So I draw. I don't know if he realizes that the real dinos of long ago didn't really have two heads, or breathed fire, or had feathers. I just feed his imagination. Poor kid. ;P
Oh, I made him cry today. I told him that my big dinosaur ate his little, ugly looking dinosaurs. Good thing his mom had a headache and was sleeping too. I just drew him two better looking creatures to make him stop crying and asked him to pose for this shot. Then I went back to sleep.
hmm, i made 2 people cry today.

I just had to get a picture of this scary character. Who does he think he is? One of the three wise men? I scurried away after taking this snapshot fearing he might run after me or sumthing. Another strange creature of Quiapo.
